I am a big Cohen brothers fan. I have seen almost every movie they have made and liked them all. My favorite is the Big Lebowski. I remember when i was still a teen when the movie came out. The first time I saw it was on TV. My father used to have all access DirectTv, so the movie was on 24/7. I must have seen it about ten times that month. Watched it obsessively, memorized every line of every scene.
Have you seen the Big Lebowski?
“The Big Lebowski is a 1998 American comedy film with elements of noir written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. Jeff Bridges stars as Jeff Lebowski, an unemployed Los Angeles slacker and avid bowler, who is referred to (and also refers to himself) as “The Dude”. After a case of mistaken identity, The Dude is introduced to a millionaire also named Jeffrey Lebowski. When the millionaire Lebowski’s trophy wifeis later kidnapped, he commissions The Dude to deliver the ransom to secure her release. The plan goes awry when The Dude’s friend Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) schemes to keep the full ransom. Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, David Huddleston, Julianne Moore, Tara Reid and John Turturro star in the film, which is narrated by a cowboy known only as “Stranger,” played by Sam Elliott.”
Iwas watching videos on youtube when i came across some Big Lebowski moments:
One of my favorite scenes. The “dream scenes” leave me speechless. The movie is filled with self references, for example, in Maude Lobowski´s living room there is a painting that features a pair of scissors in a red background. In the last part of the clip, you will see them in the hands of the german nihilist gang.
Also the Sheriff scene is hilarious!
“Jacky Treehorn treats objects like women man”
The movie features Sam Elliot (watch Tombstone) as the Stranger, a cowboy that acts as the narrator. Here he delivers some wise words:
And the memorable Jesus, the pedophile bowler:
In the next scene, you have Walter´s character and it´s relationship to the Dude distilled in less than 3 minutes.
Walter: “Am i wrong”
Walter: “Smokey my friend, you´re entering a world of pain…”
This movie, besides featuring some well crafted scenes and great memorable lines, it also has the best comeback in cinema history:
This is how Walter changes the Dude´s mind over and over again:
Bunny: “Uli doesnt care about anything, he is a nihilst”
The Dude: “Awww, that must be exhausting”
The Dude: “Ow! You´re Bunny”
Bunny: “I´ll suck your cock for a $1000″
